ALEJANDRO GRINSPUN

Alejandro is a Senior Economist in the social protection team at the FAO. He started with FAO after working with UNICEF, where he led research on social policy issues, including child poverty analysis, public finance and social protection in South Africa and Tanzania. Alejandro has also worked with the United Nations Development Programme in social policy research and analysis, technical advice to governments, support to intergovernmental processes and policy dissemination and advocacy.

Silvio is a specialist in impact assessment and analysis of productivity and efficiency, with a PhD in Econometrics and Applied Economics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Silvio has significant experience in the design and analysis of impact evaluations of social programs and rural development interventions, including how conditional transfer programs affect the quality of life of the households that receive them, as well as their productive activities, labor distribution, risk management, food security and nutrition.

Garima Bhalla

Garima is an Economist in the Social Protection team of the FAO. She has previously worked as a Senior Impact Evaluation Specialist with the Oxford Policy Management, where she focused on the evaluation of health, nutrition and health behavior change programs in India, as well as being an Associate of the Clinton Health Access Initiative. Garima has also worked on the evaluation of cash transfer programs in Ghana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. She has a PhD in public policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA).

Noemí is an associate professor at the University of Terramo and an economist at FAO, where she conducts impact assessment analysis of agricultural and social protection interventions. She is also a researcher at the UCL Centre for Global Health Economics and the Centre for Economic and International Studies at the University of Tor Vergata, as well as a Research Associate at the Centre for Health Policy at Stanford University.

Thu Hien is a consultant in the Social Protection team of the FAO and has a PhD in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain and the University of Bielefeld. Her research addresses the issues of poverty, inclusive growth, social protection, migration, gender and regional development. Before working with FAO, she worked with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the OECD Development Centre.

Ervin is an Economist in the Social Protection team of the FAO. Ervin works on the generation of knowledge and evidence for the support of agricultural and social protection policies. Specifically, his work focuses on the econometric evaluation of cash transfer programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, but also on labor market and natural resource market issues. He also has experience in designing studies and implementing surveys. Ervin holds a PhD in Econometrics and Applied Economics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

PAMELA POZARNY

PAMELA POZARNY

Pamela is part of FAO’s social protection analysis team and is currently based in Ghana leading qualitative research on the impact evaluation of the Protection to Production initiative across Sub-Saharan Africa. Pamela has over 30 years of experience working with international organizations. Previously she worked at the FAO investment center making connections with the World Bank, IFAD and the African Development Bank, among others, to design large-scale investment programs focused on targeting and integrating youth and gender equality.

MARI KANGASNIEMI

MARI KANGASNIEMI

Mari’s research focuses on the labor market, as well as empirical studies on migration, job satisfaction and productivity; she is currently conducting a micro simulation model for Zambia. Prior to joining FAO, Mari worked with multiple research institutions in Finland and the United Kingdom, including the Labour Institute for Economic research in Helsinki. Mari holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Essex.
