Institutions in charge of the project

El Centro de Estudios sobre Desarrollo Económico (CEDE) The Centro de Estudios sobre Desarollo Económico (CEDE) of the Department of Economics of the Universidad de Los Andes (UNIADES) is one of the first and main research and economic and social consulting centers in Colombia. It is known for the quality and innovation of its research, the high quality of its research team, and its impact on public policy in Colombia and the region.

The CEDE in in charge of running and coordinating the rural Synergies project. It is also in charge of carrying out the two case studies in Colombia.

IFAD The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to eradicating poverty and hunger in rural areas of developing countries. 

IFAD finances the Project.

FAO The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger.
Its goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With over 194 member states, FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide. We believe that everyone can play a part in ending hunger. 

FAO leads and carries out the African cases and gives technical support to the Project.

RIMISP Centro Latinoamericano para el Desarrollo Rural, is a network that generates and systematizes knowledge, with the aim of understanding the transformations of the rural world and contributing to the formulation of improved strategies and policies for a sustainable and inclusive development.

Rimisp leads and carries out the Mexican case and gives technical support about Institutional Analysis to the Project.

MEXICO

The RIMISP office in Mexico started operating in September 2014 with the main goal of becoming an influential actor in the country in the field of territorial, rural, and agricultural development policies. It also aimed to become a benchmark for applied research and public policy analysis by applying the highest standards to its research. In 2017, the office formally expanded its operations to central America.

RIMISP- Mexico is the institution in charge of the Mexico case study.

PERU

Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP) The Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP) is a research center focused on social sciences and characterized by its interdisciplinary, pluralistic, and independent research in Peru and Latin America. The institute aims to broaden the scope of research when tackling the social problem of Peru by looking at its historical, economic, social, political, and cultural aspects; thus, gaining a more accurate perspective of the national reality. IEP´s research seeks to identify the hindering factors for the sustainable development of the Peruvian society and propose ways to overcome them. 

The IEP, in cooperation with the University of California, Davis, oversees the case study in Peru.

PERU

The university of California, Davis (UCDavis) is a public university that specializes on agriculture. The economics department of UCDavis has maintained a strong emphasis on rigorous quantitative research, applied to topics related to public policy, such as poverty, the environment, globalization, education, and innovation. 

UCDavis, working with the IEP, oversees the case study of Peru.
