MICHAEL ROSS CARTER

Michael is a professor of agricultural and applied economics at the University of Wisconsin. He is also director of the BASIS Collaborative Research Support Program that studies rural poverty reduction strategies in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The author of numerous articles and books, his research focuses on the nature of growth and the transformation of low-income economies, with particular interest in how inequality in the distribution of assets forms, and is formed by, economic growth. He currently participates in the project as a member of the scientific committee.

Ursula is an economist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, with a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia and a PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His areas of specialization in the PhD were Development Economics and Econometrics. Most of her research focuses on quantitative survey-based studies. Her topics of interest include rural economics, health, poverty and mobility.
